Whats Next?

Hey Everyone!

I've been back home for a few days now and have just been catching up on house chores and getting back to work with Patti. My next event is a Sun Coast event the week of Sept 5th on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. That gives me almost 3 weeks to work on things I learned at the event in Richmond last week. In  addition to great experience, last week's event gave me a great look to what I needed improve and work hard on before Q school. Patti and I have met once this week and we are meeting again tomorrow. Looking forward to a long sweaty putting session and about a 2 hour long session on the range. It should be a hot one but working with Patti just excites me because of the the progress I am seeing and her enthusiastic attitude about my game keeps me focused!

Sunday I am making the short trip to Daytona Beach to play with an old friend, looking forward to that! playing with good competition is what keeps me on my toes and prepares me for upcoming tournaments. Ulrika is a Swede that I met at a tournament 6 years ago and I traveled with her my first summer out on the Futures Tour as a 18 year old, fresh out of high school. She took me under her wing being 5 years older than me and we traveled 5 straight weeks together on the road. We will have a good match tomorrow, Ill make sure to let you know the outcome!

If you had noticed in a past blog, I mentioned that I would be playing in another Futures Event at the end of August. I have decided to withdraw from the event due to the fact that I was still on the alternates list and did not want to make the trip and not get to play in the event. This will give me a chance to save the entry fee money ($500 +) and work hard with Patti before the Sun Coast event in Sept.

Having said this, I also have decided to take this coming up week to take a few days and use my family's timeshare in Sanibel Island. My dad grew up going to Sanibel with his family and that side of my family has been going every since. I have been going since I was born and think I will continue the tradition throughout my life as well!! I have a true love for that place and look forward to going when I have the chance to get away.  4 days off can only refresh....right?!  :)

Hope I could fill you guys in on my upcoming schedule for the next couple weeks! I probably wont update until after the next event!!

Everyone have a great night!

Round 2

Hey Guys

Well the cut looks to be about +2 as of now and I'm sitting at +8. Yesterday set me back a few shots but today was a much better and more of a smoother round. The weather is not as nice as it has been all week and we got a few down pours on our last finishing holes. I was putting much better, changed a little set up issue and that made a huge difference. I'm sitting her quite happy actually because I saved a great 5 footer on the last hole for par! I kept it together today and just needed a few more short putts to drop. I am hitting the ball much better (thank you Patti McGowan!!) and I am excited to get to work on my putting and just keep gaining experience and confidence. Now what to do for the next day and a half?? ENJOY Richmond!

Ok. Going for a run because I cant sit still :) workout fein. then to the chiropractor, which I'm obsessed with now! Feels great!

Round 1

Well hello:)

Well what can I say about a 78, well to be positive I hit a lot of really great drives (which I have been working very hard on the last 3 weeks) and can say that I only had 2 bad shots that really cost me some scoring. I hit a lot of greens and stayed strong throughout most of my round. I got into some unfortunate trouble at the end that definitely cost the round but as far as the round as a whole, I think it could have been a lot worse. I have a thing for staying tough and thats exactly what I did today.

Putting didn't go as well as I wanted as well and I know there are a lot of birdies to be made! There was a 65 out there today so I know it CAN be done! As of now, Im just trying to stay positive and focus on what went well today, for tomorrow. I know the birdies will drop, its the patience part I get ancy with:)

Anywho, A good friend of the family's lives in Richmond and she took me out on the town tonight and it was a beautiful night to be outdoors, which I love. Donna has been a great host in the past and I really just love being around her positive attitude and happiness. Its refreshing after a frustrating round on the course. Despite that fact, I am still grateful for the opportunity to be living my dream and gaining as much experience as I am out here. I AM blessed and do not take any of it for granted. Golf is a game, not a life threatening disease and I just have to keep remembering that. Its not life or death, ITS A GAME! :)

Goodnight everyone, thanks for reading and wish me lots of birds tomorrow!!

Great Reading

Hello :)

I was just doing some reading before I went to bed tonight. I'm reading OG Mandino's "Choice" He is a great author and I defiantly recommend any of the books to everyone. I'm about to start the next OG book called The Greatest Secret in the World. Cant seem to put this guy down!

Here are a few words that I really wanted to share tonight. Really made an impact on me and wanted to you to feel the strength of a few inspiring words as well.

"I choose a better way to live.
Henceforth, each morning, I will awake and fall to my knees and give thanks to God for the gift that only he can bestow-a new day. This is my most priceless possession. If ever I should feel ungrateful and treat this miracle lightly, I need only open my morning newspaper to the obituary page and scan the long list of names there-names of people who would be most pleased to change places with me despite my problems. There are no problems in the cemetery. I would rather be here than there. I am grateful for this fresh opportunity. I will show my gratitude in everything I do, this day. A sundial counts only the hours of sunshine, but I will count them all. I will treasure each minute. I am immortal until my work is done and I have only begun. Thank you for these hours God. I needed this day to prove that your faith in my ability was not misplaced. I depart from home smiling. The birds-when did I last hear them singing? How fortunate I am to be here." -OG Mandino

Goodnight :)

The Eagle Classic

Hey Everyone!

I've been in Richmond, Virginia for the last 4 days and am so glad to be here. When I traveled with the Futures Tour as an amateur in 2008, 2009 and 2010 I participated in this event, remembering that it was one of my favorite venues. The course is surrounded by pine trees and the wildlife of the north east. It is just a very relaxing atmosphere up here. The weather has been amazing so far this week, feeling about 15 degrees cooler than the humid Orlando I am so familiar with, it has been a nice change and not so sweaty!

Due to my Tour status (the eligibility I earned at qualifying last year) and the trouble of finishing school through the summer, I don'd know if I would have gotten into the event solely on my status. Bryan Kornblau with Eagle Construction (Title Sponsor and HUGE Gator!) gave the one sponsor's exemption spot to me, I am so blessed to be here and excited for the first round to start tomorrow!

Yesterday I played in the Pro-Am with Bryan and others from Eagle Construction and it was a blast. We shot -7 for the scramble event, didn't even come close to winning (-18) but I'm sure we had the most fun! It was a great group and I truly thank Bryan for his help and the opportunity to be back at Richmond Country Club!

I've already been out at the practice facility (which is 20 yards from our host family's home) for 2 hours of the morning and just taking a break until I tee off with some of the AU girls for one last practice round/friendly match before tomorrows first round! Karlin Beck, Cyd Clanton and Candace Shep have been my go to girls this week and even though they are AU tigers.....I love having them around!
After the round this afternoon, we all have meetings to go to where the LPGA commissioner is coming for open mike, question and answer seminar, should be interesting! and then a fund raising fashion show event at the club for dinner. The LPGA Futures Tour staff and volunteers are awesome with keeping us busy and entertained after long days of practice and for most, traveling and being away from home.

Ok, going to grab some lunch and head back out to the club. Remember you can follow "Real Time Scoring" at http://lpgafuturestour.com/eagleclassic.aspx?mid=1&pid=0 tomorrow through sunday!

Ill write more tomorrow after Round 1
